Experience
I started my academic career at the College of the Redwoods, where I earned an associate degree in science. From there, I received a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology from Humboldt State University, as well as a master's degree in environmental policy and management from American Public University. Along with working for the United States Forest Service, I've also helped students of all ages improve their understanding of natural science and life sciences, like biology and zoology. My experience working directly with wildlife has helped me learn how to teach challenging scientific concepts in a manner that's easy for anyone to understand. While I love science as a whole, it's life science that I'm truly passionate about. There's no greater feeling than being able to talk with my students about biology and watching their interest levels increase as they learn more about plants and animals. As a tutor, I believe that it's important to create a student-centered learning environment that places their needs first. I work to design lessons that are custom-tailored for each and every student, so that they can learn in a way that works best for them. Along with being around animals and working outdoors, I also enjoy watching baseball and playing volleyball.
